Here we pay attention to the story of the older brother - the one who stayed home, who obeyed the father, and was responsible. Why is there tension between the two brothers? What does it mean when the older brother refuses to come in to the party? What does this mean for us? We find out that God's grace stretches further than perhaps we thought.

Note: Audio is available by subscribing via the iTunes media store or by pasting the RSS feed URL into your favorite RSS reader.

<itunes:author>Bridge City Community Church</itunes:author><itunes:category text="Religion & Spirituality"/><itunes:keywords>Marc Schelske, Kevin Brusett, Brittany Ouchida-Walsh</itunes:keywords><itunes:summary>"The Not-So-Good Son" by Marc Schelske. Yet throughout the book of Mark and in our own experience, we realize that Jesus tends to see life differently than other people. Many times Jesus declared in frustration that his followers had eyes, but it was like they were blind. He wants our eyes to be opened. Is it possible that Jesus can heal the blind? If so, can he heal the discipleship community so that we can join him in his work?

Note: Audio is available by subscribing via the iTunes media store or by pasting the RSS feed URL into your favorite RSS reader.

<itunes:author>Bridge City Community Church</itunes:author><itunes:category text="Religion & Spirituality"/><itunes:keywords>Marc Schelske, Kevin Brusett, Brittany Ouchida-Walsh</itunes:keywords><itunes:summary>"I Want To See" by Brittany Ouchida-Walsh. He embrace the people that Jesus invites into our lives and into our oikos. But what happens then? We realize very quickly that we can’t heal people or set them free. This week we look at the story of a group of friends who lived in 30 AD, and how they cared for their friend when his pain was bigger than they could heal.

Note: Audio is available by subscribing via the iTunes media store or by pasting the RSS feed URL into your favorite RSS reader.

The Radical New Oikos

7/11/2009
Series: Following - Discipleship in the book of Mark
Message #2 "The Radical New Oikos."
BOW025
Brittany Ouchida-Walsh

Following Jesus means getting up and physically reorienting our life around where he is going. If we are the church, what is the Bible calling us to be about? Today begins seven weeks looking at different roles the scripture calls us to. This week we examine our calling to be Jesus' witnesses, examining our baggage around that idea, and looking at the example of the first Christians for how we might go about this responsibility.

Note: Audio is available by subscribing via the iTunes media store or by pasting the RSS feed URL into your favorite RSS reader.

<itunes:author>Bridge City Community Church</itunes:author><itunes:category text="Religion & Spirituality"/><itunes:keywords>Marc Schelske, Kevin Brusett, Brittany Ouchida-Walsh</itunes:keywords><itunes:summary>"Follow Me" by Brittany Ouchida-Walsh. It’s common to just follow Jesus as a topic - keeping tabs on what God and the church are up to. But, as we begin our read of the Book of Mark we realize that to follow in something more hands-on and life changing than that. Today we begin a new conversation about what it means to follow Jesus like he is all that matters.

Note: Audio is available by subscribing via the iTunes media store or by pasting the RSS feed URL into your favorite RSS reader.

<itunes:author>Bridge City Community Church</itunes:author><itunes:category text="Religion & Spirituality"/><itunes:keywords>Marc Schelske, Kevin Brusett, Brittany Ouchida-Walsh, shelske, bridge, bridgecity</itunes:keywords><itunes:summary>"Image Bearers & News Sharers" by Marc Schelske.
