In the book of Judges, God raises up men and women to bring the people of Israel back to His ways. Often it involves war with neighboring tribes and cities, which allows the people of Israel freedom to come back to God without being sidetracked by other belief systems. This freedom allows for the redevelopment of the practice of keeping God first. The story of Jephthah is the story of you and I. It is full of community and brokenness, dreaming and fearfulness, struggle and success...it is the story of someone trying to live out their life honoring God, while making troublesome mistakes. In the end God finds Jephthah faithful.
