When we read the Bible people often ask if every verse is equally important. Many begin to fear that any attempt to answer this question shows a pot-luck, pick-and-choose, method of reading the Bible. But that's not necessary. Scripture itself reveals a hierarchy for interpretation. This class pursues that, in understanding what is called the "Law Pyramid."

As we interpret scripture that we read we need to pay attention to two important things. First, we must read in context, This is introduced as the principle of "Peeling the Onion" where we understand that every verse falls within many layers: passage, story, book, genre, a place in redemptive history. Understanding the where a verse falls in redemptive history is illustrated with the "Umbrellas" illustration.
